Professor at the University of La Réunion, a French volcanic island situated in Indian Ocean, Alain Gerente has acquired to this day an experience unique in the world for filming active volcanoes .
Since 1967, he has been in permanent contact with volcanologic observatories around the world. This advantage allows him, in case of a spectacular eruption, to be there immediately, ready to film .

This type of photography is particularly difficult considering the eventual risks and the climatic conditions . A perfect knowledge of the land and the activity of the volcanoes is necessary .

For 30 years, Alain has been filming many volcanic eruptions throughout the world :
in Europe, Africa, Indonesia, Alaska, Aleutian islands, Hawaii, etc ...
He also filmed all the eruptions of "le Piton de la Fournaise", Réunion Island (about 30 ones)
since 1970.

Alain Gerente dedicated "ISLAND ADVENTURE" to his friends Katia and Maurice Krafft,
the famous volcalonogists killed on Unzen volcano, Japan, in 1991.

As a specialist in active volcanoes shots, Alain directed many award-winning movies :
